Day 1

Route: Bandaranaike International Airport → Negombo

As your family arrives in Sri Lanka, generations gather from different corners of the world and come together for the beginning of a shared adventure. A short drive leads to Negombo, a historic coastal town shaped by centuries of maritime trade, colonial influence, and fishing traditions.
Your home for the night is Uga Riva, a beautifully restored 180-year-old manor house that blends colonial elegance with contemporary luxury. The peaceful gardens and intimate atmosphere provide the perfect setting to unwind after international travel.
As evening falls, the family gathers around a long communal dining table. Stories are exchanged, laughter fills the room, and anticipation builds for the week ahead. This first meal becomes more than dinner—it becomes the symbolic starting point of a journey designed for every generation.
Today's Experiences
• Meet and greet at Bandaranaike International Airport
• Private transfer to Negombo
• Check-in at Uga Riva
• Time to relax and recover from travel
• Explore the manor gardens and heritage surroundings
• Shared welcome feast with the entire family
End of the Day
Multiple generations arrive as individual travellers but sit down together as one family, united by the adventures that lie ahead.
Overnight: Uga Riva

Day 2

Route: Negombo → Sigiriya

Leaving the coast behind, the journey enters Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle, a region where ancient civilizations once flourished among forests and reservoirs.
Arriving in Sigiriya, the landscape transforms dramatically. Vast grasslands, shimmering lakes, and distant rock formations create one of the island's most iconic settings.
In the afternoon, the entire family embarks on a private safari through either Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park, depending on elephant movements. The experience is intentionally paced for all ages. Young explorers marvel at towering elephants and colourful birdlife, while older generations gain deeper insights into the complex ecosystem that supports Sri Lanka's wildlife.
Naturalists adapt their storytelling according to age, ensuring everyone—from curious children to seasoned travellers—discovers something fascinating. By the end of the safari, shared wildlife observations become treasured family stories.
About Minneriya & Kaudulla National Parks
These neighbouring national parks are among Sri Lanka's most important wildlife habitats. During the dry season, hundreds of Asian elephants gather around ancient reservoirs in one of the largest elephant congregations in the world, creating remarkable wildlife viewing opportunities.
Today's Experiences
• Breakfast at Uga Riva
• Scenic drive to Sigiriya
• Check-in at Water Garden Sigiriya
• Private safari in Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park
• Naturalist-led wildlife interpretation
• Family wildlife journal activity
End of the Day
The first great adventure is shared together as elephants, birds, and wilderness create memories that transcend generations.
Overnight: Water Garden Sigiriya

Day 3

Route: Sigiriya Region

Today the family divides into two carefully curated experiences, allowing different generations to explore Sri Lanka through perspectives that resonate most deeply with them.
Spoke A – The Warrior's Legacy
Younger generations participate in an immersive Angampora session, Sri Lanka's ancient indigenous martial art dating back more than two millennia. Under the guidance of a village master, participants learn traditional movements, self-discipline, and the cultural significance of this once-forbidden art.
Spoke B – The Philosopher's Walk
Meanwhile, older generations embark on an intellectual exploration of Sigiriya's archaeological landscape. Accompanied by an expert historian, they uncover the extraordinary story of King Kassapa I and his magnificent fifth-century fortress kingdom.
About Sigiriya
Often called the "Lion Rock," Sigiriya is one of Asia's most remarkable archaeological sites. Rising nearly 200 metres above the surrounding plains, it once served as a royal citadel featuring sophisticated gardens, engineering marvels, and royal residences.
Later, both groups reunite over lunch, exchanging stories from their separate adventures and discovering how differently the same destination can be experienced.
Today's Experiences
• Traditional Sri Lankan breakfast
• Angampora martial arts experience for younger generations
• Expert-led Sigiriya heritage walk for older generations
• Shared family lunch
• Story-sharing session
• Leisure time at the resort
End of the Day
Separate experiences create richer conversations as every generation returns with new perspectives to share.
Overnight: Water Garden Sigiriya

Day 4

Route: Habarana & Sigiriya Region

This morning begins with a gentle walk through a traditional farming village where generations witness a way of life that has remained largely unchanged for centuries.
Surrounded by paddy fields, reservoirs, and forest landscapes, families gain insight into Sri Lanka's agricultural traditions and deep connection to nature.
In the afternoon, the journey once again branches into specialised experiences.
Children and younger travellers join village women in preparing traditional spices, learning through touch, scent, and hands-on participation. Cinnamon is ground, cardamom pods are opened, and fragrant herbs are carefully prepared.
Meanwhile, older family members enjoy a curated tea and Sri Lankan wine pairing experience, exploring the island's culinary heritage through sophisticated flavours and storytelling.
As evening arrives, everyone gathers for dinner where many of the spices prepared earlier in the day become part of the meal itself, creating a meaningful connection between experience and tradition.
About the Village Experience
Sri Lanka's rural communities preserve many customs, farming practices, and culinary traditions that have been passed down through generations. These villages offer authentic insight into the island's cultural heritage.
Today's Experiences
• Guided village exploration
• Interaction with local farming communities
• Traditional agricultural demonstrations
• Children's spice preparation workshop
• Tea and Sri Lankan wine pairing experience
• Long-table family dinner featuring village ingredients
End of the Day
What begins as a cultural encounter evolves into a shared family experience where everyone contributes to the evening's celebration.
Overnight: Water Garden Sigiriya

Day 5

Route: Sigiriya Region

As dawn breaks over the Cultural Triangle, the family once again chooses between two remarkable experiences.
Spoke A – Floating Above History
Eligible family members take to the skies on a breathtaking hot air balloon flight. Drifting silently above forests, lakes, villages, and the legendary Sigiriya Rock Fortress, they witness Sri Lanka from a perspective few travellers ever experience.
Spoke B – Capturing the Landscape
For those remaining on the ground, a renowned Sri Lankan artist leads a contemplative watercolour workshop at a scenic viewpoint. Participants learn to observe light, colour, and landscape through an artist's eye while creating personal keepsakes of the journey.
About Hot Air Ballooning in Sigiriya
The Sigiriya region offers some of South Asia's most spectacular ballooning conditions, with panoramic views across ancient reservoirs, forests, and archaeological treasures.
Following the activities, everyone reunites for a leisurely brunch where photographs and paintings are shared, creating a unique exchange between two very different interpretations of the same landscape.
Today's Experiences
• Sunrise hot air balloon flight (selected participants)
• Landscape watercolour workshop
• Professional artistic guidance
• Scenic viewpoints overlooking Sigiriya plains
• Shared celebratory brunch
• Afternoon at leisure
End of the Day
Whether viewed from the sky or painted onto canvas, the beauty of Sri Lanka becomes a memory preserved in different ways by different generations.
Overnight: Water Garden Sigiriya

Day 6

Route: Sigiriya → Negombo

The journey circles back towards the coast, returning to the tranquillity of Negombo for a final evening together.
Along the way, conversations naturally turn to favourite moments, unexpected discoveries, and stories that will be retold long after the holiday ends.
Arriving at Uga Riva, the remainder of the day is intentionally unstructured. Families can relax by the pool, stroll through the gardens, enjoy afternoon tea, or simply spend quality time together.
The final evening provides an opportunity to celebrate not only the destination but also the relationships strengthened throughout the journey.
Today's Experiences
• Breakfast at Water Garden Sigiriya
• Scenic drive back to Negombo
• Check-in at Uga Riva
• Leisure time by the pool and gardens
• Farewell family gathering
• Final evening at leisure
End of the Day
The adventure begins to draw to a close, but the memories created between generations continue to grow stronger.
Overnight: Uga Riva
